Some More Game Pick Ups

So I was in the city again yesterday for my Japanese lesson and then I was going to meet my wife for dinner. The thing was that there was a 3 hour gap between when my class ended and when I was to meet her sooooo .... I went to the game store.

I really wasn't expecting to find anything as I had just been there a few days ago but it turned out they had got some new things in. The Saturn section was still lacking anything of interest (which is my preferred system) but taking a look at the Super Famicom section I found a loose copy of Super R-Type ($6) which I couldn't remember if I already had or not, turned out I already had a loose copy but oh well I'll just sell this one.
I then found a boxed copy of a very rare unreleased Super Famicom game called SM Teacher Hitomi ($47). Which admittedly I didn't know anything about, but when I looked at the box I noticed that it was a hentai game and that made me think of the unlicensed adult games for the NES like Bubble Bobble and how rare those are so I started to do some research.
The game is nothing that I would condone as it, from what little information I was able to find on it, is basically a rape game. The thing I found really funny was that there is apparently a way to play the game with just one had on the controller (holding it sideways) "I wonder why they did that". It looks like this company released the games using other common SFC carts as shells for there game with a somewhat transparent sticker slapped over top of it. This version of the game is reusing a Zico Soccer game.
I have no interest in playing it but picked it up as a odd ball kind of thing and to eventually resell it.

I also stopped by the Game Boy section and found a boxed version of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages ($10) which is was great because I already had a boxed Oracle of Seasons so this complete the set. Plus look how cool the backs match up when you put them side by side.
I then took a passing look at the Mega Drive (Genesis) section and was really glad I did because it turned out that they had Sonic and Sonic 3 both in there cases with the instructions, etc. Sonic one was $2 and Sonic 3 was $3 so I was able to get both for $5 which I thought was pretty sweet. Ill have to try them on my modded Model 1 Mega Drive (which reminds me I need to post what I did to mod that at some point).

Some New Games (Puzznic Crazy)

So I finally picked up a few new games and I figured I would share the news with you.

About a week ago (maybe two) I made a trip to Hard Off and Book Eco. I'm just not finding stuff they way I used too, perhaps I already bought everything good they had. I don't know what it is but I'd say the last 4 or 5 trips (and its kind of a far trip so I don't make it very often) I have come away with nothing. That said today I ended up just buying one item and it was a Game Boy game. A okay find of a game called Puzznic it was only $1 so what the heck why not.
But that was it kind of a long way to go for one Game Boy game but whatever it was a nice trip I suppose.

Then yesterday I was in the city and picked up a few games at Mandarake. First up I found a really cool game for the Sega Saturn called Shienryu ($20) its a vertical shooter (my favorite genre) and a really cool game.
In the Xbox 360 section I found a copy of GalGun ($15) I had been passing on this game but for some reason I just decided that at that price and that I hadn't gotten much lately I would pull the trigger on it. I was happy to see that the card inside was not used and still in the packaging.
Last I made my way to the Famicom section and was surprised to come across a copy of Puzznic ($6) and then I found a boxed version as well ($10). This game is somewhat hard to find and has some value on eBay so I picked up both of them. Had it not been for the trip to Hard Off I would have not seen the Game Boy version and done some research on the title so it was funny how that worked out.
I also found another copy of Ninja Gaiden III ($6) so I grabbed that too.

This blog has been created as a supplement to my other blog Living Japanese, here on Living Japanese G.E. I will focus only on gaming related info. Any new games I pick up or any new repair or modification projects I do will be posted here. So with that said lets get started with a few items I picked up.

A few weeks ago I won an auction for a bunch of "junk" Game Boys after getting them in I noticed that while all will need new screen lenses and almost all will need the vertical screen repaired it was a pretty good pick up. All the Game Boys had the battery cover and link cable cover which was a nice bonus.
There was also a green "play it loud" series model and the main reason I was interested was that one of them was the clear model from that same series.
Last week I was out and picked up a few Saturn games, first at Book Off I found Hang On GP 95 ($1) and Virtua Fighter Remix ($5) normally I would have passed on that game because one, Ill never play it and two, you can find it everywhere that said this was the more rare Sega Net version so I picked it up.
Then a few days later I was at Mandarake and was able to find two copies of Darius II ($6 each), Shin Shinobi Den ($2), Assault Suit Leynos 2 ($3), Dragon Force II ($6) its a shame this one never made it to the west I loved the first game and I also picked up Sega Outrun ($21) which I paid a little bit more than I normally would for a game but it was still a good deal.
I also grabbed some Famicom games while I was there. The best games I found was a copy of Layla ($10) and a copy of Gun Nac ($6), which is an awesome shooter.  I also found another Super Mario USA ($4) which had a decent price, Ducktales ($6), Gradius ($6) and Abadox ($10).
The only thing on the Super Famicom I picked up was two copies of The King of Dragons, the first one I found at Book Off ($6) and the other at Mandrake ($12). The second copy was twice as much but that game is worth it and will help feed the bank so I can buy more games. Lastly I also picked up a US version of NBA Jam ($1) for the original Game Boy.
So thats all for this post but I will have a full recap of the recent Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in the USA) modification project I finished.
